Working mums in Australia are more likely to buy cupcakes for their kids’ school fairs than stay up all night and bake them like LA mothers, according to Aussie actress Rachel Griffiths.
The Brothers & Sisters star – who now lives in Santa Monica, California, with her three children and painter husband, Andrew Taylor – has said that being a mother in Hollywood is stressful.
She said: “Motherhood is defined differently here [in LA]. Childrearing reaches a different level of stress and self-immolation.
“In Australia, I don’t think women stay up all night baking cupcakes for their kids’ bake sales when they’re a lawyer working an 80-hour week, just to prove they’re a good mummy.
“You just stop at the 7-Eleven and buy the cupcakes. And no one would judge you for it.”
The 40-year-old actress is mum to four-month-old daughter Clementine. She also has a six-year-old son, Banjo, and a four year-old daughter, Adelaide, with hubby Taylor.
She added that her parenting motto is: “Try to do less.”
