DJ AM ‘had vowed to check into rehab’ after falling off wagon

DJ AM 'had vowed to check into rehab' after falling off wagonDJ AM had fallen off the wagon several weeks ago - but had vowed to check into rehab, his friends told investigators.

The celebrity disc jockey, real name Adam Goldstein, 36, was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday after suffering a suspected drugs overdose.

The DJ had reportedly missed a string of appointments in recent weeks and had begun acting “erratically”.

And pals were so worried that they flew to New York to confront him, according to the New York Post.

His manager and his recovery sponsor went to his apartment on Thursday.

Sources say AM refused to talk to his manager, but allowed his sponsor, who has been helping him stay sober, inside the luxury $2million USD SoHo property.

Investigators told the newspaper he then lit up a crack pipe and openly took pills in front of his friend.

He promised he would check into a rehab clinic after performing at a scheduled gig in Las Vegas on Friday night. But he was found dead before he could make the show.

An autopsy proved inconclusive and further toxicology tests will be carried out in the coming weeks to determine the exact cause of death.
