Lawyers for Dennis Quaid’s twins reportedly reached a half a million dollar settlement with a Los Angeles hospital over the incorrect dosage of a drug they were given after being born, it was reported.
Each twin will receive US$250,000 from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under the terms of the settlement, it was reported. Parents Quaid and Kimberly Buffington received US$750,000 last December over the matter in a separate agreement.
It was reported that doctors say the babies have “not recovered completely from the effects of the injuries … the overdose has subjected the [children] to emotional and possible future injuries.”
The twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were given 10,000 units of the anti-clotting agent Heparin instead of 10 units normally given to newborns in 2007, it was reported. They were born to the couple by a surrogate mother.
The babies also reportedly won the right to free medical care in future from the hospital if it is related to the dosing incident.
